THE HP WAY
I spent a lot of time at HP, and came to understand what they referred to as the ‘HP Way’. This was about their way of doing things, reflecting concern for colleagues, customers and even the world around them. John Manley was in charge of research and development at HP but it is only in more recent times that he and I have become well acquainted. John forwarded me a wonderful video, produced to celebrate 75 years of HP, with footage going back to the early days of the company, which in many ways was the forerunner of Silicon Valley. It expresses the core philosophy of Bill Hewlett and David Packard. So much of this relates to what we have been addressing recently within FLS - the creation of a culture for sustained success in sport and business. It is fascinating.
