Martin Fewell
Martin Fewell trained as a journalist with the BBC. After reporting for local radio in Manchester, Cornwall and the Solent, he joined Radio Four, leading teams producing programmes like ‘The World at One’. He helped launch the BBC’s 24-hour TV news channel, then moved to Channel 4 News. He led the team producing the news on 9/11 before moving on to senior editorial roles, developing digital innovations like ‘Factcheck’ and the daily ‘Snowmail’.
In 2012, he joined the Metropolitan Police to lead communications. His team developed a ‘social media first’ approach used during terrorist attacks in 2017. He also ran and facilitated senior leadership events, aligning leaders around a transformation programme which changed the operating model for policing London, saving hundreds of millions. He then ran communications and corporate affairs for the governing body in horseracing, the BHA, attending FLS events to network and hear fresh ideas. He led racing’s crisis response group for COVID before joining London Business School and becoming Chief Engagement Officer. His team were responsible for fund-raising and marketing world-class MBA, Strategy Execution and Leadership Development programmes.
He’s now a consultant advising leaders on how to enhance reputation and manage risks, and a non-Executive Director of the British Elite Athletes Association. Martin played rugby for Marlow and Esher and coached minis at Chinnor. He played village cricket but is now mainly found running Parkruns, assorted half-marathons and annual Endure 24s, with a team of ‘Grumpy Old Men’. He’s walked the South- West Coastal Path, tackling new stretches of coastline each year to improve his encyclopaedic knowledge of seaside pubs.
He and wife Helen have three children, a marketer, a vet and a musical theatre performer. It’s never quiet when they come home.
